I graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 2016 and then obtained a BS in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and a minor in Accounting from Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT in 2020. I chose to enter the financial field, particularly wealth management because I've been intrigued by the science of creating and implementing lifelong financial strategies and paving avenues for people to live their life to the fullest.
In my spare time, I love to play sports, specifically basketball and soccer. You'll see me out coaching the local Addison United Soccer clubs during the spring and possibly helping the Vergennes Varsity soccer team in the fall.
I’m also an avid hiker. Before graduating high school, my sister and I hiked a portion of the Camino de Santiago, a famous Pilgrimage in Spain. Starting in Ponferrada, my sister and I averaged roughly 20 miles per day through farms, cities, and even castles to finally end up 270 Kilometers later in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Not only did I get to learn about the culture of the land I was travelling through but was able to learn about myself in the process. A few years later, my sister and I decided to hike the West Highland Way throughout Scotland. I wonder what our next adventure will be…
I’m also currently involved with our local Rotary chapter here in Vergennes, and believe that giving back to the community, while interacting with like-minded individuals, is imperative to helping our local community thrive.
My Father, Scott Gaines owns and operates his own property and casualty business “Gaines Insurance”, located on Monkton Road here in Vergennes, Vt. Growing up, I knew I wanted to dramatically impact the lives of others, similar to what my father does. Having to follow in the footsteps of a local leader and in my opinion, hero was going to be tough. I knew I wanted to be in the insurance business but after having been coached by him throughout elementary and middle school, I knew I needed to find a new path! (Ha-Ha)
